Palo Alto Networks plans to acquire Protect AI, a leading company focused on securing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models. This move shows Palo Alto Networks’ strong push to stay ahead in next-generation cybersecurity and protect the growing world of AI technology.

Today, businesses and government groups are building complex systems filled with AI models, agents, APIs, infrastructure, and third-party tools. This complexity creates new risks. Hackers can attack through model manipulation, data poisoning, or prompt injection. These dangers need new security solutions built for AI—not just traditional cybersecurity tools.

Palo Alto Networks was quick to see these risks and started building AI-focused defenses early. Protect AI also became a key player in this fast-growing field. By joining forces, they will strengthen protection across every layer of AI development and deployment.

After the deal closes, Protect AI’s team and products will become part of Palo Alto Networks. They will help speed up the launch of Prisma AIRS™, the company’s new platform designed to fully secure AI. Prisma AIRS will help organizations protect AI at every stage—scanning models, assessing risks, securing GenAI runtime, managing AI posture, and defending AI agents.

Anand Oswal, Senior VP and GM at Palo Alto Networks, said that AI applications bring new risks that old tools cannot handle. By adding Protect AI’s tools and expertise, businesses can now build AI systems with full security from the ground up. He said the company will continue to innovate to meet the changing needs of this dynamic landscape.

Ian Swanson, CEO and Co-founder of Protect AI, shared his excitement. He said working with Palo Alto Networks will help scale their mission to make AI safer around the world. He believes the company’s strong reach and security expertise will amplify their work even further.

Once the acquisition is complete, Protect AI’s founders, CEO, and employees will join Palo Alto Networks. The deal is expected to close by the first quarter of Palo Alto Networks’ fiscal year 2026, pending regulatory approval.
