Anduril Industries is acquiring Klas, an Ireland-based firm known for rugged military communications hardware, to boost its battlefield AI systems. The deal, still pending regulatory approval, will bring Klas’s edge computing tools into Anduril’s growing ecosystem of autonomous defense technologies.

The U.S.-based defense tech company, backed by investor Peter Thiel, plans to integrate Klas’s field-ready hardware with its Lattice platform. Lattice is Anduril’s central software used to connect drones, sensors, and autonomous machines in real time. It helps military teams view and control battlefield operations through a live, AI-powered interface.

Klas has over 30 years of experience building communications gear that works in the harshest conditions—places without power or signal. Its devices help troops stay connected, control drones, and collect mission-critical data even in remote or combat zones.

With this acquisition, Anduril aims to offer faster, more resilient battlefield tools. The company stated the integration would deliver fully connected systems designed for tough conditions at the tactical edge. That means smarter, faster AI support where it matters most—in the field.

Once approved, Klas will continue operating from its current bases in Ireland and the U.S., retaining its team of around 150 people. Anduril also plans to increase manufacturing output to meet growing demand for autonomous and edge-enabled warfare systems.

This marks Anduril’s ninth acquisition since launching in 2017. The company has steadily built its defense portfolio to compete with major players like Palantir and SpaceX. According to a recent Reuters report, all three companies are contenders for the U.S. military’s “Golden Dome” missile defense initiative.

In February, Anduril was reportedly in talks to raise up to $2.5 billion at a $28 billion valuation—more than doubling its worth from the previous funding round.

Founded by Palmer Luckey (creator of Oculus), Brian Schimpf, Trae Stephens, Matt Grimm, and Joseph Chen, Anduril focuses on next-generation defense and border technologies. The startup is known for using AI and automation to support military and government missions.

This acquisition is more than a business deal. It’s a clear signal that Anduril wants to control the future of defense tech—by combining powerful AI software with field-tested hardware.
