Chris Krebs has stepped down from his role at SentinelOne. The move follows the loss of his security clearance and a presidential order to review his work at CISA.

Krebs served as SentinelOne’s Chief Intelligence and Public Policy Officer. He also led PinnacleOne, the company’s strategic advisory unit. His resignation takes effect immediately.

In a note to staff, Krebs said the decision was his alone. “This is my fight, not the company’s,” he wrote. He explained that the issue demands his full focus and energy. According to him, it’s about protecting democracy, free speech, and the rule of law.

His exit came days after an executive order from former President Donald Trump. The order revoked Krebs’ clearance. It also called on agencies to suspend the clearances of others linked to him, including people at SentinelOne. The order further demanded a full review of CISA’s actions during Krebs’ leadership.

The White House memo raised serious concerns. It accused Krebs of possibly violating federal rules and sharing classified information without permission. It also said his actions may have clashed with government policies on free speech and neutrality.

Krebs led CISA from 2018, when it was created, until his firing in November 2020. That dismissal followed his public rejection of claims about widespread election fraud. He called the 2020 vote the most secure in U.S. history. His statement drew praise from security experts but angered the White House.

After leaving CISA, Krebs co-founded the Krebs Stamos Group. The group was later acquired by SentinelOne. In that role, he continued to shape cybersecurity policy and advise on digital threats.

With his resignation, Krebs now shifts focus to what he calls a critical fight for democratic values. His next steps could shape public conversations around cybersecurity, politics, and national trust.
